FAQ

Have questions? We have the answers! See below for the most frequently asked questions from our clients.

Such is the versatility of our stretch tents for hire or for sale, that they’re capable of covering almost any event and every eventuality in any setting in London, Herts, The Home Counties and even throughout the UK.

At Alternative Stretch Tents we’re not just passionate about stretch tents, we like to think we’re the most experienced, most expert stretch tent professionals you’ll find anywhere.

So if you don’t find precisely the answer to your question below, please don’t hesitate to…

A sweeping expanse of highly constructed and incredibly strong and stretchable material that stretches taut, supported by multiple upright poles, to cover areas of almost any shape and size with an elegance that’s simply stunning.

As their timeless ‘Bedouin’ style suggests, stretch tents originated in the African continent – and South Africa in particular is to this day the place to source the world’s best stretch tents. Yes, cheaper Chinese imitations are available – but if you value your event (and your reputation), you’ll invest in a stretch tent that won’t let you down. Ours are of the highest quality available anywhere – and we know that for sure because we’ve visited the Cape Town manufacturer’s production facility to check in person that they meet our highest expectations.

Yes of course. Whether you’re buying or hiring, we can provide pretty much anything you could need. Any or all of the following are available individually or as a complete package (have a look at the extras packages we suggest to accompany your stretch tent hire in various sizes from Extra Small to Extra Large and more).

And then there are those smaller, but no less essential items that add a sprinkle of magic, such as:

Outdoor lanterns
Rope lights
Fairy lights and so on…

If there’s anything else you can think of, please don’t hesitate to ask. Because we’re also wedding, festival and corporate event professionals you might be surprised at the range of equipment we’ve accumulated – and that we can source through our extensive network of contacts.

Please have a look at the sizes and packages on our stretch tents for hire page for an overview of the shapes and sizes available (even if you’re thinking of buying).

Then why not get in touch and tell us exactly what you have in mind: expected dates and times, attendance numbers, site layout, theme, entertainment (Band? DJ? Cabaret?), dance floor, lighting… The more information you can give us the better so we can put together a package proposal that makes your vision real.

Yes, we certainly can! With skirts, doorways, and sides carefully fitted – and even heating installed – you’ll be amazed how totally weatherproof and cosy a stretch tent can be – even in British winter weather.

Although the worst of the pandemic is behind us, we are of course still mindful of our clients’ and their guests’ and our own staff’s health and continue to adhere to Covid-19 best practice.

Yes! With the appropriate permissions, where necessary, we can attach your stretch tent to your existing permanent buildings or structures to create a stylish temporary or even semi-permanent extension that fits in so comfortably it’s as if it grew there organically.

You don’t need any power for the stretch tent itself – but you will do for any lighting or other extras. Generally that simply means access to a 13amp socket or two – we’ll let you know if you require anything more, and all cables are included.

Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered!

Our stretch tents are completely waterproof – and even when we join them together, our proven gutter system ensure they’re totally drip-free. What’s more, if it looks like rain, we simply draw the sides closer to the ground or even fit skirts, sides, and doorways for complete protection against anything the British weather can throw at us.

Yes of course. We’re always happy to come and survey the setting in advance and offer our insights and advice. And if it’s tricky in any way – uneven, multi-level, restricted or unusually shaped space or difficult access for instance – we’ll definitely need to carry out a detailed assessment before putting together the perfect stretch tent solution.

Yes – no problem at all. We just use ground anchors and ballasts, among other techniques. Talk us through your site and what you need, and we’ll do the rest.

Yes. Although we’re based in leafy Hertfordshire, we work throughout London and the Home Counties and indeed nationwide. For longer distances we do make a delivery charge, but we do our best to keep it to a minimum.

Yes – you can choose between Tan (most of our main premium stock) and Deep Blue, Deep Pink and Red. If you were hoping for another colour, though, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We may be able to help next time we update our stretch tent stock!

Within the limitations mentioned above, we may be able to provide a stretch tent compatible with your company colours and if you’re purchasing the tent, we’re happy to have it printed with your corporate branding and logos etc.

Certainly! Just get in touch and give us an outline in as much detail as possible of what you have in mind. We come and survey the site before putting together our proposed stretch tent solution.

Yes! Our standard Bronze, Silver and Gold hire packages all come with up to 10% off extras – and that’s in addition to our occasional ‘early bird’ and special seasonal offers.

The standard hire period is 3 days: set day, event day and breakdown day. If you can’t bear the celebration coming to an end, you’re welcome to book extra days or even weeks for a small additional charge. Since the set-up and breakdown costs are already covered in the standard hire period, you might be pleasantly surprised how little it costs to extend your hire.

Our rigging team are among the best in the stretch tent business – so we can promise you an amazingly quick and efficient service. How long it takes depends entirely on the size of your stretch tent and nature of the terrain/setting. As a rough guide, it’ll take a few hours at least (an hour and a half, for example, just won’t be enough) In any event, we’ll provide an estimated time and do our utmost to stick to it.

Another advantage of stretch tents is that they’re compact in transit. So don’t worry, we won’t be turning up in a huge lorry – just a long-wheelbase van. Please bear in mind that so save our riggers’ legs, the closer we can get the van to the site the better.

Yes! You may be investing in a semi-permanent structure, but that doesn’t mean you have the time, expertise, or energy to rig and de-rig it – or indeed to space to store your stretch tent in its ‘off seasons’. That’s where we come in – not just with ample storage space at our Herts base but also with careful packing up and storage – as well as checking, cleaning, and repair services to keep your stretch tent in tip-top condition.
